The 1000-Base-T to 1000-Base SX/LX Gigabit Stand-Alone Media Converter from Transition Networks® allow you to extend the bandwidth to those users outside the reach of the 1000BASE-T standard. It allows devices to perform automatic configuration to achieve a reliable mode of operation over a link. The Link Pass Through troubleshooting feature allows the media converter to monitor both the fiber and copper RX ports for loss of signal. In the event of a loss of RX signal on one media port, the converter will automatically disable the TX signal of the other media port, thus âpassing throughâ the link loss. The converter will automatically re-establish link when connected to switches if link was lost. It automatically detects and configures the twisted pair port on the converter to the correct MDI or MDI-X configuration. The Transparent Link Pass Through feature notifies an end device of a link failure just like Link Pass Through. However, it uses a different method for âpassing throughâ this information. Transparent Link Pass Through sends a link-loss signal over the fiber, instructing the remote converter to shut down the copper port thus notifying the end device, while maintaining the fiber link between the two converters.
